Mandriva may be dead, but the forks of Mandrake/Mandriva live on. Mageia got a mention, but PCLinuxOS deserves one too. Not only is it a solid distro that keeps the Mandriva tradition alive, but it's a refuge for Linux users who refuse to adopt systemd.

R.I.P. I had Mandrake 8.0 as the first linux distro. Well done with the crucial Czech development support (thanks bibri). Money hunters initiated logo war issuing to change the name in Mandriva and shortly to a business establishment. Wrong way. OpenMandriva was a compromise not compatible with ideas of free software only with some "must have" non-free packages, restrictions from the company was everyday piece of bread and actualizations were a nightmare each. Troubled collaboration with the company issued to exodus of key developers and a birth of Mageia. Well, Mageia is a pretty good daughter of original Mandrake, let the vital ideas of a french spiced user-frienly linux distro live in Mageia for a long time.
