looks like you still need to enable it at compile time. (gstreamer USE flag is your friend on gentoo). I am often frustrated with how much effort it takes to recompile a package with a small change on rpm and deb based distros.

In Open Build Service, change the spec file, wait a few minutes for it to compile?

Now that's just not true. JS is enabled by default and they removed the checkbox that toggles it but you can still disable it via about:config.
