Phoronix: The FSF Has A New High Priority Project

The Free Software Foundation has a new free software project that they view as a new "priority" project and it involves BitTorrent but there's yet to be any code produced...

Phoronix, Linux Hardware Reviews, Linux hardware benchmarks, Linux server benchmarks, Linux benchmarking, Desktop Linux, Linux performance, Open Source graphics, Linux How To, Ubuntu benchmarks, Ubuntu hardware, Phoronix Test Suite

Yay, one more potential project affected by the "GNU weight".

The original client has gone proprietary: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent_%28software%29

So it's a P2P rsync? Well, having a non-cloud solution for file synchronisation sounds pretty nice.

You never stop trolling do you? This is not a list of FSF projects (despite Micheal's continued attempts at painting this as such), this is FSF highlighting areas in which there is (in their opinion) a need for open source alternatives.

Again Michael trying to claim that FSF has to provide these projects just because they bring attention to a need for them is nothing but his anti-FSF agenda.

By that logic Michael should be responsible for starting and maintaining projects for every open source shortcoming he brings up here on his site. Pure hypocrisy as usual from him.

Really like the idea of P2P file sync.
Things like dropbox really don't work very safely and are quite limited.

Agreed, there was some disussion on the Go programming mailing list of making a collaborative development of an Bittorrent Sync open source clone, hopefully it will lead to an actual project:

I don't see the utility of this application. It looks like its just a "WTF?-style" dumping ground for file sharing. People have never heard of FTP? Rsync? GIT?
