  • Mutter, big desktop, GNOME 3 (and spin offs)... Only one composited surface for MD?

Sorry for the large title, I did not meant it to be that big...

Anyway, I wonder if the ATi driver could have a multi-display setup in hardware with the 2048x2048 max texture size limitation when coupled with a large display (say a 1080p TV/Monitor), does mutter still use only one composited surface for the desktop (like Compiz), or does it use one per display (like Quartz in MacOS)?

Interesting, I just attached my 22" Samsung 1080p monitor to my Fedora 16 Laptop... Lo and behold, Mutter does indeed use a surface for each display AND while it taxes the hell out of the small 690M GPU on the machine, it does a FINE job! THAKS mutter for walking around this 3D texture-size limitation on lots of ATi hardware.
