Carsten will add some news a bit later. I'll add news for the elf tomorrow I think.

He is also working on a new file manager. For now, it is outside E and is in git: https://git.enlightenment.org/raster/efm2

I remember compiling my first kernel on a Compaq Presario 2200 (Cyrix MediaGX SoC) and managed ultimately to get Enlightenment running. 1998 I think it was.

vtorri is the compositor's Wayland support mature enough to be listed in the Wayland matrices e.g. https://wayland.app/protocols/waylan...ositor-support ? I'm not sure how that is done but I'd like to see it...

I guess they missed a complete development year: in the 28th year of development they are only at version 0.27.

Enlightenment might be old, but boy, have you seen the Linux kernel? 34 years and counting! :-/

Enlightenment could take on KDE and (especially) GNOME if distributions used it more . . . assuming it has better default settings. I just mean that the first five minutes of using it makes me feel like I'm an idiot due to how it's set up by default.

"[laughs] Right, kick ass. Well, don't want to sound like a dick or nothin', but, ah... it says on your chart that you're fucked up. Ah, you look like a flag, and your mouse is all regarded. What I'd do, is just like... like... you know, like, you know what I mean, like..."

(I hope y'all have seen Idiocracy)

Linux kernel moved past 1.0 long ago. Enlightenment is still in 0.something pre-release stage.

Which explains the lack of users, since a lot of people on Phoronix and tech sites in general have adopted the “I'm not using software xyz until it reaches version 1.0 or 2.0”. No, seriously, I've seen so many people comment that in various threads for some reason.
