KDE isn't my cup of tea, but I have used it recently. It's a very capable desktop environment. The developers have done a great job on making it fully integrated and quite consistent. Something the GTK ecosystem needs to do. I think GTK is going to have problems for a long time until there's a concerted effort to split the environment into GTK4/GNOME/LibAdwaita and the apps that go with it. And GTK2 style applications written in GTK3 on MATE/Whatever else wants that style environment. The applications are also going to have to fork, or at least implement a compile or run-time switch between UI styles because MATE with a bunch of LibAdwaita apps feels really janky/weird. The Xapps initiative by Mint is the right idea.

Ubuntu is a Linux based OS while KDE is a desktop environment.
Your statement is nonsense.
It's like saying after driving a Mustang for a while I was surprised at how inferior it was to the 5.0L V8.

With some of these open sores projects it's like watching an episode The Three Stooges id they were computer programmers.
Or Reno 911 with programmers instead of cops.

There has been so many KDE news on this site lately and all of them attracted a lot of comments. Not all comments were highly useful and intelligent (maybe just like I do now), but it shows how an active project is KDE and how much people are paying attention. Plasma has become so consistent, clean, and complete in the UI design. I am thinking Plasma will become the default DE in majority of distributions in the near future.

GNOME 3 made me an XFCE user.
