But that is a website opt-out. This sounds like website opt-in.

Isn't that what <input type="file"> is for? But yes, coupon codes and such could use something like type="text-no-chk".

        THX for the clarification.

all i would want is to firefox to stop leaking memory, it's been bad for the past 2 releases. I constantly see +-2 gig allocation and free cycling after some days of use, and have to restart the browser.

It's weird because it looks like it's aware of the available memory and just aims to use 95% of it

You can try the "Auto Tab Discard" plugin, it can suspend unused tabs releasing some memory.

it has nothing to do with used memory, but spurious memory allocation/deallocation patterns going on when the browser has been used for a long time

I can see cycling +-2 gigs going on when doing nothing. The computer is working like crazy just to stay idle.

Interesting, can you search if there is a similar issue on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/home and eventually open a new one and link it here? Thanks.

That said I don't seem to encounter hevc on the web much.
Weren't most companies avoiding HEVC because of its licensing mess? Or did they fix that?
