Phoronix: Resources System Monitoring App For GNOME Now Displays NPU Usage

As an alternative to the GNOME System Monitor application for system monitoring, Resources has been in development as a currently unofficial, GNOME-aligned resource/hardware monitoring application written in the Rust programming language. Resources v1.7 was released on Friday and now has the ability to monitor NPU usage and other enhancements...

Indeed, I really hope it will replace the old official app, this one looks way better and displays more useful info.

Looked cool and I wanted to try it around when Fedora 41 came out, but Resources only officially releases as a Flatpak.

The app is nice, looks like they copied the Windows design.

Trying out the new Resources v1.7 release from the Flatpak version on Flathub, indeed, NPU usage monitoring is working for the NPU within my Intel Core Ultra "Lunar Lake" laptop.
I do need to point out that there is no way to know if this portion of the app is actually working since there are no apps on Linux that make use of the NPU.

Since the NPU isn't being used, there's no load on it and thus nothing to measure.

For all we know it's not capable of measuring NPU usage, it could just be displaying some lines.

I don't know where you get that information from, but there is in fact software that can make use of an NPU. OpenVINO seems to be an example.
Also, in the issue that asked for NPU support, people have posted screenshots of working NPU usage monitoring.

Thanks for the heads up. Nuked my fedora installation several months back. Been gaming for a while (rip yuzu) and I was wondering what makes my game lags, wanted to open this app,.but I forgot the name. Too lazy to Google. So this article helps right when I need it.

About this app. I think it gives fake or rather inaccurate info. Like my graphic card was reported only uses 8 pcie lane . That or I messed up something. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Your games are lagging and this app says that only 8 PCIE lanes are in use?

I would say the app is probably correct.

Resources does not display PCIe lanes nor link speed.
