Come on, GIMP as a photoshop alternative? Perhaps if you're pirating! GIMP is great for what it is, but it's no photoshop alternative.

What do you mean by that? GIMP is free software, you can't pirate it.

And of course GIMP is an alternative, just not for every possible workflow.

Note that Fedora 41 already lets you use GIMP 3.0 RC (it's slightly older than this tagged release, even). It works OK in my testing but it's hard to get used to the removal of floating selections, due to 15+ years of muscle memory from using them

I mean that few people who chose to pay for Photoshop over the other image processing tools out there would consider GIMP to be a suitable replacement. Of course it can do some of what photoshop does, but it's in a totally different league.

GTK is obsolete, time to port it to Qt.

Still I don't get what pirating changes? Wouldn't you just continue using the pirated Photoshop if it is in another league?

There are a lot of people who use a pirated copy of photoshop because it's the big name, not because they need a tool that powerful. GIMP may well be an alternative for many of them if they wanted to go legit. It's probably not an alternative for anyone who thinks photoshop is worth paying for.

Zoom is behind in maintenance and has not been updated to Wayland but is still using deprecated technology. They are fully to blame. Wayland is standard for years.

Will the final version be out before Half Life 3?
