They should refactor out that Blender Vulkan UI code to some library and call it something like libblenderui that other applications and games can use.

Let's not forget HIP-RT support on Linux:

Just tested on my rx6800 (cycles+HIP+HIP-RT) on arch with ROCM 6.0.2 from repos -- works beautifully

Eventually they will just reinvent Qt6.

Yeah but Qt has been criticized because of its licensing and policies of you having to pay for LTS and you not getting the latest version, etc.

Maybe it would be a nice alternative to Qt. While Qt is common in applications, maybe a widget toolkit based on Blender could be focused on UI for games.

I don't think that Qt widgets would be able to suit Blender needs. I think there is pretty good reason why a lot of complex applications are not using widgets provided by the OS/toolkit but their own.

I know a few folk who can't wait for blender to support vulkan for eevee and cycles. I personally don't touch this stuff now, far too complicated for me.

Doing a quick test on a Ryzen 7 5825U bought in 2022. Shame the Radeon GPU is not longer detected on HIP list. Will ask ROCM them for that matter.
