Here's a nice blog post documenting this LTS release:

And a nice discussion without the usual MPEG hatred:

But this library is written in C which is unsafe, so if you plan to use any application that makes use of FFmpeg it is best to get that application from Flathub or the Snap store so that it is sandboxed for increased security.

Oh, are we at that point now where C equals just plain unsafe and needs to be sandboxed...
I'm seriously restraining myself right now from bombarding you with swear words.

If you follow your bullshit to the letter, have fun running ANYTHING.
Linux. As very vital components (including the kernel and glibc) are in C.
Windows and macOS are partly written in C too.
Android is linux under the hood. It's C deep down.

You might be better of abandoning electronics completely and go live in a sandbox - a literal sandbox - yourself.

Have you been playing with a YUV encoding lately? 4.4.2, .4.2.0, 4.4.4

Your kernel/glibc/most GTK/Gnome libraries are written in C, you must not use Linux directly, better wear a tinfoil hat and run Linux in a VM or connect to it remotely via e.g. VNC/RDP.

                Sadly xHE-AAC implementation is incomplete:

I can't even begin to imagine how anyone could use Linux on desktop without a fully hw accelerated, bugfree xHE-AAC support, written in Rust.

Uhh, you've been here 20 years. You should know that uid313 has constantly been beating the "rewrite everything in Rust" drum for 5-10 of them.
