Well I never had the feeling the Gimp UI was slow in any way and I use it on an 12 year old mobile CPU.

Accelerating a basically static UI makes much less sense to me than accelerating the actual gfx-related computations.
The move to gtk4 has been driven by some other reasoning, like modernization.
        IMHO.

It's fine, all the sane Gimp users are now Krita users instead.

I expect the Milky Way and Andromeda to collide (or maybe not according to recent research) before Gimp 3.0 arrives, but thanks for trying folks.

Not sure what this has got to do with sanity? One should use the right tool for their job and that might be krita or gimp depending on what you want to do.

What do you mean by "they"? And who's going to pay for full-time developer salaries? Do you think there's some sort of magical GIMP company that owns a magic money tree and chooses to spend their resources on something else?

I don't think our contemporaries will live to see this event. 🤭

You joke, but between GIMP 2.9 and 3.0 Valve literally made a Half Life game

Support for higher-precision pixel formats and colour management.
