I have that issue in Falkon my desktop too sometimes.

I always do the webGL aquarium test when a new FF version comes out and this time, it doesn't slow down to a crawl with 15K fish, in fact, it can go up to 25K and perform acceptably, still owing a good performance at the 30K mark.

Also a 4K Youtube video playback is absolutely smooth when it was choppy before.

Nice to see actual performance improvements. Kudos to FF team!

Based on the number of problems you're still running on Xorg? Video playback on Firefox has been smooth eversince they first introduced video hardware decoding nearly three years ago now, and it has been steadily improving with every release.

While I don't monitor and compare every Firefox release, I had already noticed lower CPU usage with video decoding back with Firefox 116. On the WebGL Aquarium demo I was getting 30 fps with 15,000 fish and didn't notice any improvement after upgrading to Fx 118.
