NOTE - the changelogs are incorrect on WebKit blog and this release is more interesting than what is reflected on the WebKit blog. It has some amazing bug fixes.

e.g., lookbehind negative, OffScreen Canvas, Editing fixes etc.

Wait... WebKit didn't support the unprefixed fullscreen API this whole time?

Just looked it up. Apparently on iOS Safari, they don't support the Full Screen API *at all* on iPhone, but they do on iPad..
I guess they really really don't want web developers to use their own video controls on iPhone?

Nope. It's literally time web devs just stop bending over backwards for that new IE so Apple ID forced to pick up speed on properly supporting web standards. After all, even the most hardcore Apple fanboys won't stick with it when they realize they bestially can't use any websites anymore. Apple might have their users balls in a very tight grip, but when their products become unusable, everybody will jump ships. Especially companies buying Apple devices for their employees that simply don't want to burn money with putting their services into apps but simply make websites.

Thus far, WebCodecs support in Safari Preview is incomplete. Encoding is not working at all. Here is hoping that they progress to implementing the whole standard.

Maybe Apple can implement JPEG XL support for their browser and pressure google that way? I just want at least one modern image format that works on all platforms and devices man.

The weird thing is that WebKit has a lot going for it even now, but lacks features either upstream or in Apple's distributions seemingly primarily as a strategy for Apple to protect their App Store revenues. I feel kinda sorry for the WebKit developers.

Apple doesn't want JPEG XL, they want HEIF/HEVC.

                    Hmm video.canPlayType('video/webm; codecs="av01.0.05M.08"') still returns ""
which means that av1 is unsupported (activated it in experimental features).
