They already have been committing people to Plasma. That's why there's been so much progress in the past couple releases.

X11 for Plasma for now. But the gamescope compositor used to actually play games is Wayland.

KDE Plasma is the default desktop in the "developer mode"

Are you sure you need to enable developer mode to access the desktop? Trusted Reviews had the "Switch to desktop option" even though he had developer mode disabled.

Would think Wayland. Some said they want to wait for the "Nvidia" Steam Deck (not gonna happen), in which case Xorg... because...

Really nice to see more and more glitches disappear on Wayland, it already runs so much better than Windows on slow devices. A few more rounds of bug fixing and polishing and it might be close to golden.
