    Still an old .net

"Mono engine updated to version 6.2.0"

    Version 6.0.0 is from 2019-04-12.
    Version 6.4.0 is from 2019-07-26.

So Version 6.2.0 is betweet this two.

.NET (Core) 3.0 comes out on 2019-09-23.

So this is a pre .NET 3 version.

And plans WINE to move over to the normal .NET Core / .NET 5 ?
Or will it stay on the Mono engine, which is currently mostly used for mobile devices?

    Greetings

.netcore and .net 5 are both Linux native. Net framework is Windows only, so it's more important to have a framework implementation, as I think Wine should be able to use the native netcore and net5 runtimes

wine mono version != mono version
https://github.com/madewokherd/wine-...ine-mono-6.2.0 uses basically the latest upstream mono + some extra patches as far as I can tell.

On top of that mono != .net version either

          https://www.mono-project.com/docs/ab...no/versioning/

Mono does not follow or mimic .NET versioning in any way.

I always assumed it had its holes to fill in and wasn't a .net version but can understand since its version numbers are similar.

Wine continues the low intelligence road. System resources for .net should be used and not wine...something. Also mono?????? I mean come on we should use educated people for important jobs.

              Thanks for that info.
But why talk WINE in its news about the "Mono engine version 6.2.0" and not about the "WINE Mono engine 6.2.0" ?
And why existing not that link to the wine-mono on the WINE homepage?

Now it makes sense with the versioning.
On 2021-03-26 comes out WINE 6.5.
              On 2021-03-30 was published wine-mono-6.1.1.
On 2021-04-06 it was integrated in WINE 6.6.
On 2021-04-12 comes out wine-mono-6.1.2. It have only an bugfix because of a crashing garbage collector
On 2021-04-23 comes out WINE 6.7, and mentioned in the detalied changes, that mono have become an bugfix
On 2021-05-7 comes out WINE 6.8.
On 2021-05-21 comes out WINE 6.9
              On 2021-06-1 comes out wine-mono-6.2.0.
On 2021-06-4 comes out WINE 6.10 which comes with the new wine-mono.
