LibreOffice 7 Continues Plumbing Its Vulkan Rendering Support

Too bad my laptop, despite meeting AMD's listed hardware and driver requirements for Vulkan, simply refuses to create a Vulkan drawing context... even on Windows. This change will give me nothing at all, except likely bugs.

(Hey, it's fhe only OS it will boot from the hard drive without kernel commandline hacks. Stay the heck away from HP laptops, if you didn't already know that.)

Could you provide the model and specification of your HP laptop? Newer model with mobile Ryzen have no problem running Vulkan via vkmark.

My laptop is anything but new -- it's an HP Envy 15h, M/N m6-p114dx. It's been out for about five years, now. Definitely not Ryzen or the like... and it's been out long enough that you'd think it wouldn't need "acpi=off" to boot from the hard drive. (Something about the UEFI not "being powerful enough" for non-Win10, according to some anonymous HP engineer, back when I last researched it.) It's just a bad choice of laptop all around, unless we can convince Microsoft to open-source just that initialization code part of their kernel.

Then cross-reference AMD's list of supported tech here: https://www.amd.com/en/products/spec...ons/processors, search for FX-8800p, select the one with the R7 graphics. Vulkan API support is listed -- apparently, that means "API will answer that support exists, then do exactly nothing except return an error, after delay". 🙄
