Maybe i should give it a spin.
A lite qt desktop environment is good but plasma desktop is pretty light in it self but it's bigger.

There is also Lxqt, if you want a very light QT DE.

How is plasma light in any possible way?

Just look at all these dependencies it drags in.

That looks like the full desktop metapackage. You can make a lighter Plasma install than that.

            It's light when using it.
Low on ram and resources actually plasma uses almost the same resources as xfce.
It's an DE of course it will have a lot dependencies and most you see there are other plasma or qt5 components that's because it's modular.

What's the point of this? It looks and feels like absolute trash and there are much better lightweight alternatives around. Easily the worst UI I have ever used

It's a bit dated and not scientific, but this comparison shows that Qt is definitely not 'lightweight' compared to things like FLTK: https://www.pismotek.com/brainout/co...-resources.php

Yeah, for example you can just install the WM component. However this is ricing and means that you are no longer running the Plasma desktop. Instead you are making your own non-standard setup using individual components. A corporate install for example would not do this.

You dont know what you are talking about. You can install KDE but there is no need to install all KDE apps and KDE games. This is not "ricing"

Libvdpau? A lot of that is not even plasma, speaks more about Freebsd package maintainers.
