    Nothing can be worse than the current centralized package cancer system since it's at the bottom of the barrel.

      Sorry for the delay in my answer.

      The fact is that my use case is different from your use case, which is different from my friends use case. The fact that I'm a developper with a good grasp on how the system works and how I can use it does not mean that all my friends are (and some aren't). This should not preclude them to use Linux. So if they have a way to install the software they want/need without being overwhelmed by our "command line is king" bias, that cannot be bad. Linux is for everyone - not just those who feel, for whatever strange reason, that they deserve it more than some others.
