You don't have to use rpm or deb, if you think that this isn't the right way to install desktop apps. Then feel free to leave. But take your stuff with you and stop bothering us.
Now we have an example of the unhealthy elitism in the Linux community.

Well now you're just lying because there's KDE Discover.

based on what you say I wouldn't give much credibility to what you read.

Just because you create a mental asylum for insane morons it doesn't mean that complaining about insanity is redundant.

The insanity that the Linux desktop has no stable userland ABI? Source code and many times binary might work now but not work one year down the line, that's insane.

Completely agree. Not an easy fix though.

Yeah, that's the insanity, and flatpak is the mental asylum created to deal with it. (not really blaming flatpak, it does what it has to do because of the insanity)

I enumerated all the problems with that FUD site in detail the last time that link was posted.

This breaks existing API and that the gtk project does all the time. Divide and conquer is the strategy of redhat to keep the gnome3 desktop a live and prevent the Linux desktop success. I have dreamed to port the Xfce desktop to Vulkan. The Vulkan API seems to be quite stable.
The example you bring is irrelevant. This article is about the next major version of GTK, which is meant to break API compatibility, as major versions do.
The article you brought is about API breaking between minor versions of GTK 3, and it does have some ground.

When you install OpenSUSE you need to install with KDE GUI if you want to have a good-looking desktop interface.
