      Maybe not all Wayland compositors support XWayland.
      But I know that GNOME Shell and Weston does.

      I see XWayland more as something transitional that is kept for a while to backwards compatibility with legacy applications.
      It's not intended to be a target for modern applications.

      So then when XWayland isn't much needed anymore, it can be disabled or removed.

        This Wine (staging-nine) version runs LS2019 https://www.farming-simulator.com (D3D11) with RADV + DXVK 0.93/0.94 out of the box (gold/platinum? ;-) ).
        Only one texture regression yesterday, but it is fixed with Mesa git #ec1d5841fa28939b9f9c69b42a99d22f56641154

          Last time I asked about this, there was a dude who claimed he tried it and complained about how he thinks that the Wayland protocol makes it impossible to implement. I disagreed with him, but then people started to randomly trash talk about Wayland, and it turned into a FUD thread and I stopped following it.
