    It is an interesting project, but it is also an extremely slow-moving one. Computer technology seems to be moving faster than development can keep up with, so overall they seem to be getting further away from having a production-ready system rather than closer.

        So what are the new concepts that Hurd has led to with in the last 10 years? I don't mean the concepts that were new when it was first developed, but new ideas that have come out during its development.

          distributed VFS, translators? AFAIK there is nothing quite like it in other OSes.
