I think much of QNX is up to ford these days.
Ford use QNX for their Sync 3 and made a deal with blackberry late 2016 and the resent hiring of 400 developers in Canada with an majority from QNX/blackberry.

The car industry has used Qt for a long time even with Meego (some might remember that no one told the car industry about the discontinuing of Meego) so i don't see this as an big surprise even if it's done on spare time.

I approve the usage of Qt even if it is on some weird niche (proprietary?) OS.

Don't worry, Wayland Desktop is close enough, thanks to GNOME and RedHat.

The smartphone currently in my pocket begs to differ.
            (HINT: it's not a BlackBerry)
