    And I perfectly know that it is the choice of BSD, but I totally disagree with the faxt that taxes help this.
    It's difficult for 'BSD commercial companies to contribute back to the community because the resulting code often isn't suitable for general use. For example, we re-wrote an ethernet driver for FreeBSD years ago, but we've also stripped out all of the cruft and features we don't want to use. The resulting driver simply isn't suitable for general use. Many other 'improvements' are also customized to our needs. Part of the point of using 'BSD is that you can craft it to your needs. There's a LOT of fat in general purpose operating systems.
