Phoronix: FreeBSD Is Trying To Figure Out If Anyone Uses Its VGL Graphics Library

FreeBSD VGL provides a library for accessing graphics modes and carrying out basic drawing operations atop its syscons console driver. Not only is basic graphics output on a virtual console supported by libvgl, but mouse input is too handled. However, not many people seem to be using this library...

It powers Netflix, WhatsApp, and countless others..... We've seen an increase in interest, contributions, and donations(largest being from WhatsApp) over the last few years, not remotely close to being dead....

Also FreeNAS is FreeBSD, and that's also going strong.

Although I doubt there are any significant desktop installations of FreeBSD.

Count me among the FreeNAS users, which implies FreeBSD. I don't do GUI stuff on it, but it makes a really nice system to run a home file server on (3 drive raid-z w/ periodic external backups).
