    Phoronix: DragonFlyBSD's HAMMER2 File-System Continues Maturing

Back in 2012 the HAMMER2 file-system was announced and lead DragonflyBSD developer Matthew Dillon didn't believe it would be until some time a year later (2013) that this HAMMER successor would all pan out. After more than three years of development, HAMMER2 seems like it's getting into shape...

HAMMER2 has literally been in "development" for a long time. It's literally the F-35 (takes so long to develop) of filesystems in terms of development but will be a MiG-29 (look up "1991 gulf war and Balkans war MiG-29") in terms of performance.

Once HAMMER2 is ready for testing, it will be already obsolete.

Funny thing to say when you consider that BTRFS development started back in 2007 (five years before HAMMER2) and many think it is still not production ready.

BTRFS has been usable for years now. It's on my production systems and hasn't failed me.
