    Darwin

If they're so much into Apple, iOS and Objective-C, then they could have gone with Darwin instead of FreeBSD.

Except Darwin has almost no driver support for non-official apple hardware. It's a lot easier to squeeze freebsd onto a system than it is to get Darwin running. Besides, all you really need is gnustep to get most of Cocoa.

Hey, pedophiles and perverts are people too!
Shouldn't they be able to enjoy free software too?

            Free software is for everyone!

What gives you the impression that this caters exclusively to 'pedophiles and perverts'?

If you want to delude yourself into believing this technology won't be used to take compromising pictures of kids and upskirt shots of women on trains (oh hi, planet fedora), feel free.

"this technology" being... a camera? why wear a large obvious HMD that does a bunch of jobs unrelated to picture taking and will likely make people avoid being in your camera's view when you can use a carefully aimed cell phone, or one of the many designs of "spy cameras" that can be had for very little money and are hard to notice?

only way to avoid what you seem to be talking about is making cameras illegal. for that, nearly every cell phone out today will have to be recalled, and something like this will have to be tweaked to use voice controls instead of hand gestures. and google glass will still work just fine without the camera, only lacking "take a picture"
