Let's be serious. Very few people are going to be happy with decade+ old laptops with dual core Intel CPUs these days, unless that's their only choice.
This is what I feel like when people are like just get a ThinkPad T480, because even if it does have a good processor it is still just 2 to 4 cores. Even X1 carbon series as late as gen 9 just have 4 cores. My not built like they used to make them E series ThinkPad at least has 8 physical cores! In an era where servers can have over 300 cores I think my laptop needs at least as many as I have fingers!

It should be said that once again, OpenBSD did it first, 7.6 has S0ix sleep, it is just not automatically selected yet, 7.7 this April intends to have S3 and S0ix auto select set up.

More people than you think. If you need something powerful, then just use an actual workstation. Why would you even need to be using a powerful laptop? Protein folding on a bus or in a coffee shop is a rare usecase

Plus in terms of batteries, not having these things welded onto the motherboard is a nice bonus if you do need to do some serious travelling.

BSD and Linux enables you to use weaker devices. Take advantage of it.
