    There is no demand for a "operating system framework", nobody uses this except for Genode OS themselves in their own Sculpt OS.
    People who want to write an operating system don't want Genode OS. Google is making their own operating system called Fuschia which is probably better and is modern and doesn't suffer from legacy design decisions.

    I think probably Linux, Windows, *BSD are all legacy shit operating systems. Google got their Fuschia going, and Huawei got their Harmony OS.

      Btw, HarmonyOS is based on Android AOSP, so not nearly as "modern" as Fuchsia (following your argument).

        No, it is EMUI which is Huawei's version of Android. Harmony OS is a new operating system, not based on Android.

          Even harmony OS is based on Android AOSP. Otherwise you couldn't run Android apps - at leats the ones build with NDK (e.g. all games in Unity3D and Unreal engine). E.g. ChromeOS has to run full Android in Docker to be able to run NDK apps. You don't need real Android underneath only for apps build for Dalvik and ART (those in Java/Kotlin).

            uid313, Fuchsia is a 1st gen microkernel design. It should be better than, say, Mach/Darwin/OSX/IOS, but it is still basically an obsolete design.

            Genode, when paired with seL4, is a third generation microkernel design. There's simply no contest there.

                If only it had a GUI (read: regular menu, taskbar, notification bar, clock, etc...) for one to play with it...

                Everything in it seems well design! An agnostic kernel os framework, possibility to run sel4... It's missing a decent file manager and a nice D.E. (LXQT would rock)
