Phoronix: ReactOS Hires Developer To Work On Their Open-Source Windows Storage Stack

The storage capabilities for ReactOS as the "open-source Windows" project has long been in poor shape relative to the other subsystems, but ReactOS Deutschland has hired a developer to work full-time on making improvements in storage and related areas...

Getting USB to work at all would be a good first step for ReactOS

Excited to see that this alternative OS has not just been abandoned! Hopefully they keep pushing the development forward this way.

        ReactOS is an operating system.
        Our own main features are:
        • ReactOS is able to run Windows software
        • ReactOS is able to run Windows drivers
        • ReactOS looks-like Windows
        • ReactOS is free and open source
Does it run Crysis tho ?

Both ReactOS and Haiku help the world understand that open source is not bounded to linux and unix-like OSs.
Open source means freedom, when you can choose the OS that best fits your actual needs - regardless if it's free (as in free beer) or not.
            Wish the best for both.

ReactOS isn't very stable on VirtualBox yet. Let's hope that they can improve the stability. At least it allows the VirtualBox native graphics drivers to be installed.

I know they get laughed at all the time but personally, I admire their dedication.

Already done. Go to YouTube and search for "ReactOS Crysis"

About topic: It's nice they have enough money to hire another developer. Idea of open source Windows is pretty important. It's very unlikely we'll get Windows code from Microsoft in near future.

Haiku has become infected with crap developer ideas however, like a complete BS package system, rejection of developers working on integrating more modern features that the Be Developers themselves even worked on (BeIA, Palm and Android IPC) that triples the operating system memory footprint wtih zero benefit for most users and a crashy package installer (command line works fine, the GUI is garbage though). At some point a fork will be required, same as with GCC and other projects that stagnated on dumb ideas for years and then finally got forked and then the fork merged back in the end as it was the only sane thing to do... same thing with OpenWrt LEDE...

There is a toxic atmosphere of I'm right you are wrong there, from developers that take ownership of tasks they have no intention of doing anything but squatting on.

ReactOS has similar problems but at least there.... its confined to redeveloping the memory management every 2 years.
