Thanks for the links. I know what a CoW filesystem is. The async in this case means we can continue to write, without the need of a confirmation the previous write was successful?

Does anyone have any good links in regards to OpenZFS 2.0? My understanding is this is the release that will merge in FreeBSD stuff to then share a common codebase with ZFS on Linux, making ZFS on FreeBSD legacy code. Do I understand this correctly? I'm pretty excited for this to be honest, would love to read more.

I have no idea either. I thought the reason for ZIL and TXG was because async writes on ZFS were already a thing.

No, but did use soap and water! Also conducted Bing-Fu with safe social distancing, used a 6 foot pole!
