  • Unable to log on using Chrome

When you click the 'Login or Sign Up' thing in Chrome (Windows), the popup box to sign in comes up. When you fill in and submit that, it seems to be that there's some sort of sub window/frame that it signs in on, but your session isn't available in the main window. I've had to jump over to Firefox to post this.

I've had a very similar problem on Firefox.

Further to this, I'm now logged in successfully, mostly by luck I think. When I click around the site, on some pages I'm signed in, on others not. So right now I'm signed into the forums (without having entered my password since yesterday), but when I click through to the main Phoronix page I'm getting ads despite being a subscriber. The session isn't being appropriately tracked on every page.

Can you check to see if it's always on/off given if HTTP/HTTPS?

Same problem using Chromium, Firefox and Pale Moon on different machines. Posting a screenshot. Looks like "logged in-small-frame" is running a HTTPS session and "not-logged-in" is on HTTP. When I forced the address with https:// and refreshed the page, I was suddenly properly logged into forum.

Can you guys also comment if using any plugins / try toggling those plugins to see if the behavior changes?

It looks like login fails only when user comes by visiting through http://phoronix.com/forums/ session. It's all right when visiting through https://phoronix.com/forums/.

From aht0's comment, is it working fine if explicitly going to the https URL?

If I put in https on the main page I'm logged in. I click a link to an article I'm ok, or go into the forums. It seems to kick me out when I click the phoronix.com in the banner to go back the main page from the forums, or click on an article. At work today, I wasn't having this problem. I only seem to have it at home, on both my windows and ubuntu installation.
