So what is the status on this? I now get an autoplay video ad which is more than 1/3 height of the page, covers content and follows around when scrolling.

Sometimes I wonder how anybody who is less tolerant of such annoying ads can still visit Phoronix without an ad blocker.

Currently working on tracking it down to see how it shows up but so far haven't figured out which ad unit it's getting injected from, hope to have it solved soon.

Will try blocking skiamade.com with Tribal to see if that fixes it.
The particular ad no longer displays, however it was replaced by an equally obnoxious ad at the same position.

This is the code which was apparently inserted to display the ad:

Ugh. The ad situation has progressively gotten more annoying. There are now 5 visible ads in the forums:
    • partially overlapping each other
    • two of them are identical (center, bottom center)
    • two of them are floating (top left corner, bottom center), and one floating ad (top left) cannot be dismissed
    • three of them are animated (top left, center, bottom center)
    • with only having this page open, Firefox uses around 20% of one CPU core for itself, and 100% of one CPU core for "Web Content"

We don't install anything, not even familiar with this hbpix you mention. If you have any URLs you can provide of how it's being loaded or whatever, can look to get it blocked from ad networks.

Do you happen to know on what parrticular pages or from what ad? If you can provide anymore information can get it blacklisted. I can try the idpix.media6degrees blacklisting but unknown if that's the actual URL of the ad, probably not as would be too easy to track down the rogue ad that way.
