In my opinion, using Adsense makes no sense if it scares away new readers, it's a counterproductive approach ;-(

You yourself, in all sincerity, would you regularly read a site where there are lots of ads?? And would you want to make donations in such a situation ??

It's the story of the cat biting its tail "ads > dissatisfied readers > no donations, no money > more ads > less readers > etc".

If I were you, I would do a test by removing the ads for a while. Instead, you could, as Unic0rn suggests, regularly remind people of the need to make a donation and at the same time create a web page, a bit similar to what Linux Mint does on its blog, where you would report the status of your readers donations & subscriptions. This would certainly motivate people to be spontaneously more generous with you...

    Good continuation.
I've been lurking here for a bit and recently created an account because the forum is kind of hidden.
Anyway I'm currently ad-blocking the site because it's nearly impossible to remain sane with 35% of the screen beeing ads. I know it's less bad than say 4 months ago I think when the top banner was fixed but yeah, still bad experience.

Anyway I just bought a lifetime subscription because the content is well worth it.

Regarding If your payment email address is different from your forum's registered email address, please include your forum username when making the payment.

I'm not seeing any way to include a note on either Paypal/Stripe.

It depends on where you go to in PayPal or similar whether it shows message. Otherwise you can always email me separately. Thanks.

Re-upped for another year Michael. Left you a 10 dollar tip so 40 dollars total. Keep up the good work, I appreciate all the news articles and benchmarks. Would love to see an Open/Free/NetBSD version over version benchmarks sometimes but I understand why you don't do them: too little interest and a lot of work and limited hardware compatibility. Would be cool to say take OpenBSD 7.3 to 7.6 and compare performance or FreeBSD 13.x, 14.x, and 15-CURRENT or NetBSD 9.x vs 10.0. Just food for thought. Anyways keep up the good work sir. Happy Holidays to your family sir!

Thanks for the feedback. Hah had just emaild you a few minutes ago about any BSD requests... I'll take a look again at fresh BSD comparison though timing due to alignment of different release schedules is a bit hard to make 'fair' but I supposed after 14.2 is out may be interesting?
