I try to refrain from calling people 'neckbeard literalists' in case someone might think that was insufficiently polite and constructive and think me 'an insufferable asshole'. I also happen to believe that there are consequences to poor spelling, syntax and grammar, but they might not be obvious at first sight.
Misinterpreting things can also be an intellectual game, but it takes a certain mindset to enjoy the process. Not everyone is the same, and some people don't 'get it'. Some people enjoy manufacturing outrage, trolling, being deliberately obtuse, and even pretending to be a hothead. It takes all sorts.
You are certainly entitled to your opinions, but no matter how strongly you hold them, it does not necessarily mean that they are right, and other people might take a different view of things that you find annoying. Generalising from your own unique life experience is a process fraught with error.

Perhaps I'm a hypocrite for not describing these people politely or constructively, but I'm not going to give grace to those who refuse to give it to others. Those who do give grace are rare, but they're not the ones I'm complaining about and on multiple occasions I've actually become friends with such people. After all, disagreements are just a matter of misunderstanding, but that's why I describe those on my list as insufferable: they don't want to understand, they just want to shut you down. More often than not, I don't think they're being trolls. They genuinely believe in what they're saying, with unwavering arrogance. I say that as someone who is also quite stubborn.

So, in situations where the underlying message was understood, the only time I can think of where the mistake matters is for something published professionally as a source of accurate information. There's a litany of reasons why that matters. For every other situation though, I can't really think of why it matters to make such mistakes. Perhaps the person is taken less seriously, but that really says more about those making that judgment call than the one who was in error.

Generalizing is only fraught with error when people don't understand if something is spoken generally, as in, not unanimously.
