      Ping times to Phoronix are around ~20ms here, and the rest of the website loads instantly.

        Average ping time for phoronix.com is 32ms. OpenBenchmarking.org's ping time is 52ms. My family's DSL service from Consolidated Communications in Altha, FL.

            As for CentOS over Ubuntu, because Phoronix has been hosted on CentOS (and formerly RHEL proper) for 16 years so just haven't changed.
