  • pts/network-lookback failure in RHEL/CentOS (nc argument CLI issue).

Hi All. Just wanted to give a heads up that pts/network-loopback test does not work on RHEL 7.

Reason is the nc command used in the PTS micro script is expecting different command line support than the nc version installed in RHEL (and probably CentOS also).

The package in RHEL offering nc support is nmap-ncat.

If you drop the '-d' option it works. In the nc version you are expecting, the '-d' means "Do not attempt to read from stdin". The '-d' in RHEL's nc means "delay" and it expects an extra argument for the time delay which isn't there so it errors out.

I'm liking this software -- thanks to the author for all the work that's been put into this.

    John.

Thanks for the feedback and kind words. I'll do some thinking about it for how to best handle that test profile for compatibility and make some improvements then.
