  • Bench specific mount point

    Hello,

    I would like to bench a specific mountpoint with iozone or aio-stress for example.
    But I don't know how to do it (ex: I would like to bench the "/mnt/USB/").
    Do you know how to do this please ?

    Thank you.

    Adjust the location tests are installed to via the installed-tests dir inside ~/.phoronix-test-suite/user-config.xml

      Hello,

      For my example, to be simpler my mountpoint is '/root'.

      When I run iozone, with this user configuration :
      <<
      ...
      <Installation>
      <RemoveDownloadFiles>FALSE</RemoveDownloadFiles>
      <SearchMediaForCache>TRUE</SearchMediaForCache>
      <SymLinkFilesFromCache>FALSE</SymLinkFilesFromCache>
      <PromptForDownloadMirror>FALSE</PromptForDownloadMirror>
      <EnvironmentDirectory>/root/.phoronix-test-suite/installed-tests/</EnvironmentDirectory>
      <CacheDirectory>/root/.phoronix-test-suite/download-cache/</CacheDirectory>
      </Installation>
      <Testing>
      <SaveSystemLogs>TRUE</SaveSystemLogs>
      <SaveInstallationLogs>FALSE</SaveInstallationLogs>
      <SaveTestLogs>FALSE</SaveTestLogs>
      <RemoveTestInstallOnCompletion></RemoveTestInstallOnCompletion>
      <ResultsDirectory>/root/.phoronix-test-suite/test-results/</ResultsDirectory>
      <AlwaysUploadResultsToOpenBenchmarking>FALSE</AlwaysUploadResultsToOpenBenchmarking>
      <AutoSortRunQueue>TRUE</AutoSortRunQueue>
      </Testing>
      ...
      >>

      This is the command I run :

      <<
      [email protected]:/root# phoronix-test-suite run pts/iozone
      >>

      And when I check the iostat, it's seems to write on another partition disk (not '/root').

      Thank you.

        With that conf it would be writing to /root/.phoronix-test-suite/installed-tests/

          OK.

          But I don't understand, because I see IO on the local disk (the mountpoint is NFS).
          Maybe iozone run is test outside the install phoronix tools path.
          Do you know some disk tools that use the phoronix tools path instead ?
          Or do you know a tool (maybe iozone can) which allow us to select a path to test ?

          Thank you.

            It should all be going to that Phoronix Test Suite install path.

            Try the "fio" test profile as a good disk test inside PTS.
