Hello,
I've made BareMetalSavings.com, which compares cloud to bare metal costs. Currently only direct hardware comparison are made -- cloud instances are compared to hardware identical (or near identical, in case of exclusive chips) to the one that powers them.
I would like to improve the calculator such that it'll be possible to compare different hardware configurations, but generalized bechmarking is a hard problem, to say the least.
I've been planning to run some or all of the Phoronix Test Suite on cloud instances, and am most worried about unknowns unknowns. Any tips, guidance or suggestions you may have will be highly appreciated!
