Why does the Phoronix Test Suite pts/fio favour mdraid over hardware RAID?
I have four Samsung EVO 860 1TB SATA 6 Gbps SSDs connected to a Broadcom/Avago/LSI MegaRAID 9341-8i 12 Gbps SAS RAID HW HAB and when I created the RAID0 array on the LSI controller, the sequential write speeds using a 64 kiB block size, unbuffered, indirect writes were only happening at between 210-211 MB/s.
But when I am using md RAID, (still four drive, RAID0), I'm getting an average of 1930 MB/s?
Why is that?
