And I repeat what I said above, are you running a normal GUI distro like OpenMandriva on them?

I have a bunch of Geodes around (even those from before they became AMD Geodes), but they are headless and running LEDE/OpenWRT. They can't even fucking boot Debian, not on 64MB of RAM (which is plenty for OpenWRT/LEDE).

Yeah I can buy 128MB DIMMs to run Debian in there, but there is no point in investing cash on old crap like that. Even a total shit Allwinner SBC I can buy for 10 euros has more RAM and runs more or less the same (and is smaller).

If you consider the energy that is used to make a new car vs. the 0.5 liters fuel that it consumes less (or even more (+0.5 l !)because motors get even more powerful than anyone really needs), then you got to run the run car for a long time to get that energy back in by fuel savings. As a scientist of nature we got to consider all these parts in the equation.
It's not about fuel savings for you, but pollution. (assuming there is nothing dodgy, and I have my doubts, but I'll leave it there)

If it was about fuel savings alone, there would be no need for the government to give people cash for changing car.

Socialist nations pay for healthcare and pollution does increase that cost.

Pollution is not energy wasted nor CO2 emitted for the "global warming" thing/hoax/whatever.

It's carcinogenic un-burnt chemicals and very thin powder stuff emitted in the air that we breathe.

My car is very old, but received all sorts of even strict environmental awards back in the days.
Does not change the fact that it's probably still a pollution bomb if compared to a modern car. Back in the days we had far less restrictive standards, so being great back then means nothing.

So I think it sometimes is environmentally responsible to drive an old car than to create something new every 2 years and throw the old away.
    It's debatable on a case-by-case basis.

For example if your car is using LPG or Methane it's fine regardless of its age (LPG and Methane burn completely and don't emit any pollutants).

Recycling would be nice if someone would really do it. We German sort our waste with meticulous care but if the waste enterprises then throw all of it together to burn it or sell it as "raw material" by the ton to African countries... Pffff.
Plastic material or even paper recycling is one of the biggest hoaxes of this century.

It's expensive, complex, polluting and more energy/water-intensive than just burning that shit for its raw chemical power potential and disposing the (limited amount of) hazardous burnt residue.

With paper they got the message and we have things like FSC certifications for paper.

Metal and glass recycling is ok and makes sense and it's even economically favourable in most cases.

So what is the takeaway, that you should not generalize.

OpenMandriva is not and never was aimed at embedded targets, and whatever is still on 32-bit is crap for PC usage, so they drop it and it's fine. Does not mean every other distro targeting embedded is on the verge of dropping 32bit.
