It wasn't Oracle, it was a personal opinion of an Oracle engineer, which isn't the same.

Michael Any chance you could run ZFS benchmarks? Especially interested with ZIL on the 900P.

If you or others provide how you'd like to see the ZFS tests done... Usually when I do 'stock' ZFS tests, there's usually lots of complaints about why XYZ or ABC wasn't tested, etc etc.

EXT4 has matured into a fine filesystem, it's been nothing but smooth sailing since 2011 for me, I feel like it rarely gets the credit it deserves.

It would have been nice to include btrfs with LZO as well, not so much for the optane, but for zstd vs lzo

See this comparison for such results earlier this week: https://www.phoronix.com/vr.php?view=25526

Thanks for this test ! Is F2FS widespread ? Are readers here using it ? Any drawbacks ?

Google developers invested quite a bit in EXT4, I did watch some presentations way back where one developer explained why it is hard to make good file system, it's really a complex task, before that I never really gave it a 2nd thought. For desktops, using anything other than EXT4 can't be justified and it is asking for trouble in my opinion.

Ok, then please tell me how I can have lots of snapshots with ext4 without a large slowdown. And how I can get easy rollback of updates without losing my data. And what about fast incremental backup both local and off-site? And how can I be sure with ext4 that my data is correct and not corrupted by a faulty disk or memory?
