    Nice!
I hope to see Ubuntu, Debian and Fedora on Samsung.

They tried with the Ubuntu for Android project. According to them, no OEMS took them up on the offer

        Exactly!

        Step 1:
Become a huge mammoth of a multinational corporation with hundreds of thousands of employees and an almost bottomless R&D budget.

        Step 2:
Announce plans for Linux desktop-mobile convergence.

        Step 3:
Rinse and repeat Step 2 until successful.

It's 99.99999% likely to be like that, because blobs will be blobs.

For those not in the know, this is highly likely going to be something like Linux-desktop-in-a-chroot thing like it's already possible and done in many Android apps.

Still, I'm 100% sure that they will make their TouchWiz Linux Desktop thingy and lock it down somehow (while also wasting a ton of internal flash space), not allow distros to be installed in mildly smart places like say SD card (that may or may not be in their high end phones at all)

maybe it will be kvm-based virtualized desktop? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8QkmQcVlp8&

It's much harder than a chroot, and a chroot does already all they might realistically need.

Also KVM virtualization requires more resources on the host (and wastes guest RAM for a kernel/driver stack that is completely pointless) and has bigger performance impact than a simple chroot.

This will very likely be a chroot type thing as it will be running the the phone's original Android kernel. This pretty cool and Samsung has the business might and phone marketshare to possibly see this gain some traction. It would make spending several hundred dollars on a smartphone a more compelling option than the budget $150 or less phones I typically buy.

Certainly not: The article said leveraging the phone's stock kernel

The starship and Xaero are right.

Top notch smartphone > 24 cores of A53 for desktop use?

                      O_o
