      the necessary changes to libva have been pushed back to the 2.1 release, so we might need to wait another year...

            No, because if you leave out the 7 and the . it will become a 13 release and any distro using this version could trigger the end of Linux for the desktop ...

                More so than the actual 13.0 release did? According to distrowatch Debian 9 is shipping with mesa 13.0.6
