Phoronix: It's Been Over One Month Since The Last Vulkan 1.0 Update

Vulkan 1.0.38 was released on 16 December and there has yet to be any other Vulkan-Docs update since then, which is strange when considering there were 38 point releases to Vulkan 1.0 in less than one year that the API specification has been public. There generally has been point releases every week or two for advancing this high-performance graphics API...

Does anyone actually care about how long its been since x articles? Always seems like bullshit content rehashing to me.

Really hope Vulkan 1.1 + working drivers will come out after GDC.

The big feature incoming will be multi GPU support. That's the only glaring omission for now compared to DX12.

Also I guess the VR specific stuff is something to look forward to. Not sure how that will be look but it seems like HTC Vive and Valve are going to roll out VR support on linux with that.

You do realize that we've had the Christmas and New Year's holidays between the last spec update and now? In many countries that's two weeks of work lost due to holidays and vacations.

Other than that, it's perfectly natural for a project like Vulkan to eventually start settling down with fewer of the small specification updates and clarifications that made up the bulk of last year's updates. Knowing that GDC is around the corner it's only to be expected that they might actually be working on a proper set of additions to the specification rather than just improving the documentation and adding new examples.

And you just read the headline and skipped directly to comments right?

Considering the "rapid" release shedule of vulkan games, the 3rd linux vulkan game will probably be using vulkan 6.98 or later.
