not sure what happened, but installed the latest git of mesa-git a week or so ago, and it fixed most 3d rendering on Dust, the DS emulator, It uses wgpu, so most likely a radv changed so that's neat.

Nice. Is LTO compilation still broken though?

Is there any plan to completely switch to vulkan deprecating opengl on the main linux operating systems?

OpenGL is here to stay for decades... There is no reason to drop the drivers from MESA. If you meant for the window managers to render through Vulkan, well, depends on the desktop environment. All will switch to Vulkan at some point, though i doubt it will be soon.

Mesa 23.0 still crashing xserver on VB. This is should be marked as blocker IMO:

no plan, but it has been hinted that mesa in the not so long future may drop radeonsi, iris etc, and rely on zink, glond3d12 interfaces, it's not for sure, it's not even likely, but it is a possibility.

as for greater OGL usage, absolutely not, too many devices require it, and will for a very long time

What's the benefit of that emulator vs melon?

being wgpu (and I guess rust helps with this too rust+, it's pretty fast all things considered, not much different there but it does already support wasm (though no 3d acceleration on webbrowsers yet) and unlike melonDS is a lot more portable, it should be trivial to compile to say android and get working resolution scaling unlike melonDS, as for support, its still very lacking, but all things considered, i've been using it for a while now and its pretty good, I just wish it's UI was more flexible.

though its setup in a really nice way that dropping a new front end, probably isn't all that much effort, its pretty modular in that regard. also just looking at the code, it seems a lot more "hacker friendly" both in the regards that the code is mostly clean, but also that the emulator itself as seen in the screenshot, has a lot of debugging tools baked into it.

I dont reccomend swapping off melonDS or anything, but trying out dust side by side might be worth while if you wanna look at the inner workings of the game

Nobody has hinted at that. Unless you just mean random phoronix commenters who have no power.
