Phoronix: Stratis 3.4 Released As The Latest Open-Source Linux Storage Work From Red Hat

Red Hat is out this week with a new version of Stratis, its Linux storage solution built atop XFS and LVM that is intended to provide features and functionality akin to ZFS and Btrfs but with the proven reliability of XFS...

While I absolutely want to see this project succeed, until they can show any progress on dm-integrity or dm-raid I think it's deeply disingenuous to make comparisons to BTRFS or ZFS. There should at least be a note that it doesn't feature any kind of data checking or repair functionality, so far as I can tell.

One would think, at least dm-raid, would be a top priority, what's a prof-target FS without raid functionality?

              I'm eagerly awaiting Kent's work!

Very promising indeed. It already supports native encryption, something Btrfs is still lacking.

going by https://www.phoronix.com/news/Fedora...ller-BIOS-RAID it seems the dm-raid is actually abandoned

dunno what you'd use as a replacement software raid layer. I seem to recall https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l55GfAwa8RI may have mentioned even madam has some issues/poorly handled corner-cases compared to something like ZFS.
