Phoronix: NVIDIA Makes The PhysX 5.1 SDK Open-Source

Back in 2019 NVIDIA open-sourced the PhysX 4.1 SDK and was working on a PhysX 5.0 open-source code drop while we haven't heard anything more on the matter in the past two years. Coming out this morning as a surprise is the NVIDIA PhysX 5.1 SDK open-source release...

Ok, but coming from Nvidia, is it really open source?

I know about this technology since the Ageia propose. Which concrete benefit could be possible to get in Linux Oses? How to install it?

The GPU part is closed source in (not provided) libcuda.so.

right its fake opensource to make sure you buy a nvidia card. its not opensource if you better drop it and use whatever AMD people use to get GPU support on any gpu card.

HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE

Linux users are notorious for hatred, more so than the users of even more obscure OSes like Free/Net/Open BSDs.

What have you, qarium, done for Linux other than shitting on everything not aligning with your love towards Open Source? I've not seen you in a single bug tracker, not a single commit under your name, just lurking here on Phoronix and HATING.

No wonder people often leave Open Source when they get to know its most vocal users better.
