I'm using it on a nexus 5 phone (OTA-15 I think) and it has nothing special. I use it like a dumb-phone, just for calls and sms. It's better than an android full of spyware.

However, it has the same problem with any product [originally] made by Canonical: they tried to create a new ecosystem and failed.

I was able to install evince via the containerization for PDF reading, but to be honest, it is really bad in a small screen and the performance on a 8-year phone is disappointing overall.

Yeah I ran it on my old Nexus 5 for a while recently also. I found it was just not as useful overall as LineageOS with (or even without) microg.

I have nearly given up on a decent linux phone. Though if someone can get a good experience when running android in a VM that would suffice. as a stop gap.

Just bought a Sony Xperia 1 II -- apparantly the Gen III will be out in August but the II has some people who have gotten LineageOS to run on it. AFAIK the device is manufactured in Japan which is a nice plus nice too.

I came from an Android 9 in the same phone. To be honest, LineageOS is very usable if you don't have the gapps or facebook apps installed.

First, two major versions behind. OTA-15 came out in 2017. Then, contradition in spectacular fashion.
Then you equate the performance of that, to that of the whole OS, based on what you make the effort to point out, is an 8-year old phone.
Not only is it that, it is _one_ device.
