    Phoronix: Intel's Clear Linux Still Outperforming Other Distributions For Mid-2020

    Being well past the half-way point for the year, here is a look at how Intel's performance-optimized Clear Linux distribution is performing compared to its rolling state last December. Plus there are also benchmarks looking at how the current Clear Linux is performing against other rolling-release distributions.

    The first time I can read benchmarks results on Samsung internet with dark theme.
    I had to switch to light time to read them before.

      Very few people still care about Intel's Clear Linux for Mid-2020.

            I'm probably in the minority here, but honestly, I love it ...

            While there are clear downsides to Clear Linux (e.g., clunkiness of package manager), I appreciate the following:

            * Packages are recent, and auto-update works really well. You don't need to do-release-upgrade. E.g., I'm using gcc 10.2 right now. This I consider even more important than speed.

            * Kernel is recent too (5.4 on the stable channel), and is based on kernel.org

            * Runs KVM well (Windows with GPU passthrough)

            * Lightweight

            * Stable

              It's very fast at not being a desktop distro.

                KVM on Intel = Yes.
                KVM on Zen = No

                  It's the Irish edition, don't you know.

                    Really? Gnome on Zen works fine as far as I can tell (not sure yet if that has GPU passthrough, though).

                    Maybe it is a bit bare bones in that regard, but I am using it as a desktop. What's missing for you?
